Elijah's cloak
I've been tying myself in knots with historical research again (surprise surprise).
But I was rather amused when, on doing a Google image search for 'Elijah Cloak', it came up with this picture:

So the style of cloak is too far back in history?
True enough. The Third age of the world doesn't quite convince me though. I'm sure Bilbo had matches :-)
The technology was lost in the flood.
